A magazine for a Nobel Prize

When the Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa won the Nobel Prize for Literature, Etiqueta Negra magazine called us to collaborate on a special edition. We decided to make that issue resemble a novel.

Mario Vargas Llosa is the Peruvian writer with the highest international fame. The Nobel Prize he received in 2010 also made him the first Peruvian recognized by the Swedish Academy. Etiqueta Negra, on the other hand, represented for a long time the best of literary journalism in Spanish. That’s why we enjoyed doing this collaboration.

We changed the type of paper and used a single color; we gave great importance to the titles and turned the typography into an image and illustration of the notes. As an additional detail, students from the Leoncio Prado Military College, the setting of the famous novel The Time of the Hero, made hand-drawn portraits of the writer, which added a human touch to the whole piece.
